Did you know that the Singapore Zoo followed the modern trend of displaying animals in naturalistic, 'open' exhibits, i.e. with hidden barriers, behind moats and shrubbery etc.? It also houses the largest captive colony of orangutans in the world!
The zoo houses animals such as the Australian Outback, Cat country, Critters Longhouse, Elephants of Asia, Fragile Forest, Hamadryas Baboons, Orang Utan, Polar Bear, Primate Kingdom, Proboscis Monkeys, Rainforest Kidzworld, Reptile Garden, Wild Africa and White Tigers.
Eeveryone wants to gain a chance to be closer in contact with the animals, hence, they have animal shows ranging from Rainforest Fights Back, Splash Safari and to Elephants at Work and Play! Each presentation happens at least twice daily! So do catch them if you can!
Every kid loves animals. Bringing your children to the Singapore Zoo will definitely satisfy their desire to meet and interact with animals! They can expect the splashes of thrilling activities at Singapore Zoo’s Rainforest Kidzworld! This new and special attraction provides an educational, fun and engaging time with family-focused activities. Fun waiting at the water play area for the children, literary themed likes a wet animal wonderland!
Among various attractions that the zoo offers, one highlight is the "Breakfast with an Orangutan" programme that allows visitors to meet and interact closely with the orangutans in the zoo, amongst which includes the famous primate matriarch Ah Meng, (died on February 8, 2008) who was an icon of the Singapore tourism industry.
Animal shows, as well as token feedings coupled with live commentaries by keepers, are also the daily staple in the Singapore zoo!
